Losing an eye can be an emotionally traumatic experience, as was the case with this young man who came to us after he lost vision in his left eye following an infection. It was having a physchological impact on him due to abnormal facial appearance. Even though he knew he could not get back the vision in his left eye, he was looking for a way to get back a normal appearance.
Treatment

Before
After
This treatment requires advanced skills and a gentle hand. Some weeks after surgical removal of the patient's eye, an artificial eye prosthesis was fabricated by Dr. Monica Mulchandani who is specially trained in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics (also known as Maxillofacial Prosthetics).
Dr. Monica then hand-painted a natural-looking iris, veins, and arteries to match the other eye. Once completed, it looked completely natural and moved with the movement of the other eye.
So this lovely patient was provided with a comfortable, cosmetically matching, and naturally moving scleral prosthesis for their left eye 👁️✨
Also there are patients with shrunken eyes, congenital absence of an eye or abnormally small eyes. If you or someone you know is affected by a condition like this, know that there may treatment options available to improve your quality of life. Do call or visit us and we'll be happy to help you.
